Teacher Appreciation Day

This week there was Teacher Appreciation Day. I decided a while ago to celebrate this in my own way as I believe teachers are often given a bad deal! Some people believe that they get 6 weeks off in the summer and that they finish work at 3:30pm. The teachers that I know do neither of these. They are constantly on the go, thinking about the next lesson plan or wall display. Always trying to come up with ever difficult ways to engage children in their learning.

So, rather than simply celebrate the teachers of my children, I decided to make a little gift for each teacher at my child's school. I'm a big believer that you should always try to spread happiness (even though sometimes I'm not happy myself!) mainly because you never know when someone is having a bad day or needs a little sunshine. Most people who know me have no idea of the battles I've faced over the last few years because I've chosen to keep them private but it also made me think about others and how perhaps they might be fighting their own battles but I wouldn't have a clue.

Here are the little post it note gifts I made for each teacher, I wrapped them with tissue paper and labelled each with their name and class flower and enlisted the help of the lovely office staff to distribute them. I also made note pads for the Head and Deputy Head and decorated a box of sweeties for each of the staff rooms to ensure that teaching assistants shared some of the appreciation too.
