No crafting for me today, I'm in the middle of a mass sort out/tidy up so can't get to my desk. I thought I would share with you this recipe I found for making playdough without cooking it. I remember when I was a kid my ever thrifty Mum stirring a saucepan of playdough on the cooker for what seemed like ages trying to get the colour to mix and the texture right so when I found this no cook way of making it I had to give it a go!
I'm not going to lie, it's not the best playdough ever but the kids love it and it's cheap and more importantly quick and easy!
Give it a go and let me know your thoughts!
2 cups plain flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
Up to 1.5 cups boiling water (adding in increments until it feels just right)
food colouring (optional)
Mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar and oil in a large mixing bowl
Add food colouring TO the boiling water then into the dry ingredients (colour optional)
Stir continuously until it becomes a sticky, combined dough
Add the glycerine (optional)
Allow it to cool down then take it out of the bowl and knead it
vigorously for a couple of minutes until all of the stickiness has
gone. * This is the most important part of the process, so keep at it until it’s the perfect consistency!*
(If it remains a little sticky then add a touch more flour until just right)
Edit: I completely forgot to add that we made "Frozen" playdough, we added baby blue food colouring and glitter - the kids loved it!
